To the Zoo with Daddy!

August 3rd, 2008

Everything is so much more fun when Daddy is with us! Jimmy is the awesomest, funnest, sweetest dad ever! I love watching him and Zeke together. We picked Jimmy up from work last week and went straight to the Zoo.

Zeke has the best smiles right now, and he usually does them when we say, “big smiles”. I love it!

Trying to get Zeke to do his gorilla impersination.

The gorilla came right over by the window to take a nap!

Zebra, sometimes known as a “see” (horsie), by Zeke.

The Ghost of the Bayou, albino alligator. Did you know that alligators can go a whole year without eating? They store, and live off of fat in their tail. Also, depending on the temperature of the nest, the litter will either be all male, or all female.  White alligators don’t survive long in the wild because they are easily spotted for prey of birds, or other alligators when they are babies. One more fun fact-Alligators in the wild live about 35-50 years, while alligators in captivity live significantly longer, about 60-80 years. I asked the Zoo keeper by the alligator a ton of questions, and he knew all the answers, I was impressed.

Regular alligator, or maybe a crocodile? Which ever it is, it slept with its mouth open. This picture gives me the creeps!

Zeke loved all the monkeys.

It was so fun seeing Zeke’s face light up as he recognized the animals from his books. It was my favorite Zoo trip ever!

    Hey Esther,

Sorry I forgot to call you back about my due date. It’s December 20th. Sounds SO far away!!! Anyway, cute pics at the zoo. I need to take my kiddos there soon.

That reminds me of my sister. She went to Africa last year and saw some crocodiles in captivity. I think they were in the 60-80 year old range. Anyways, the guy who was telling her group (BYU Singers) about the croc was in the pen with them, and one started moving right at the guide with it’s mouth open, and my sister totally freaked out. The guy was really safe though. Anyways… glad they’re behind glass at Hogle!

Zeke looked so mature to me in the Ghost of the Bayou picture. Sometimes I forget that he’s not a baby anymore.

That is so fun, especially since Zeke is at an age where he can really enjoy it!

Umm…I’m afraid you’re a little biased. Dave, in MY humble opinion, is the awesomest, funnest, greatest dad ever. I’m sure Jimmy’s great and all, but….:)

It’s not my humble opinion Stacey, it’s a fact. Dave can be second though :)
